Through emotions experienced while painting his last two works ‘Imperfection’ and ‘Letting go’ (not yet finished), Kees Blom forced ‘healing’ upon himself as a person and a painter, using the verb literally, to heal. In this, the process is to constantly pull apart and reduce negative feelings and to allow positive feelings. Difficult considerations allow him, when successful, on a day like that, to be not only free but independent, autonomous.
The bowls he creates in this series arise intuitively and are therefore unique in character. These bowls symbolise folding hands that hold something beautiful, to keep it safe and pass it on.
Every bowl is unique in its consideration and attention is paid to the outside, the point of view, the bottom and the inside so that it becomes a perfect, whole, intact, bowl, no cracks this time. Some are turned inside out, showing the bottom, some are purposely not. Others are purposely daring because of its contrast.
Kees Blom experiences like no other how the feeling of beauty touches emotions. He finds the entire process very worthwhile and often adds a touch of gold, even if only on the edge.
